About CaptureSelect

CaptureSelect® products are affinity ligands created by a proprietary technology based on Camelid-derived single domain antibody fragments. The ligand is a 12-kD single domain fragment which comprises the 3 CDRs that form the antigen binding domain, efficiently produced by the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

CaptureSelect®products possess a combination of unique properties such as stability, affinity, and selectivity that provides competitive benefits in terms of reduced cost of purification, higher quality product, and increased flexibility in the purification process. These features make CaptureSelect products the preferred tools for bioseparation and life science applications. BAC BV offers a range of CaptureSelect products for different applications:

  • Bioprocess supply - Novel off-the-shelf products for purification of various molecules such as monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies, Fab fragments and viruses.
  • Custom ligand design - Purification solutions are provided for various large scale applications like scavenging of impurities and single-step product isolation from complex media.
  • Life science research – Ready-to-use immobilized products including: the CaptureSelect Antibody Toolbox for the separation of virtually any antibody format from a wide range of feed-stocks such as plasma, milk from transgenic animals, or supernatant from mammalian cell cultures; and the Proteomics Toolbox for protein depletion applications and biomarker research.

Advantages CaptureSelect® Products

Tunable Specificity

The specificity of the ligand can range from broad to very narrow: species, antibody class, subclass format, glycoform, isomer, idiotype, etc. Specific features can be incorporated into the screening process such as binding, elution, column-regeneration and cleaning conditions. For example, ligands have been isolated that have the ability to elute at near neutral pH values, thereby protecting valuable biologics. The screening for selectivity and process functionality has proven to be highly effective in identifying ligands that meet customer requirements regarding defined purification processes.

Optimal Affinity

The binding affinity is in the nmol range and can be optimized for both capture and scavenging applications. This affinity enables capture of valuable biotherapeutics at very low concentrations.

Excellent Quality

Since the DNA that codes for each ligand is amplified by PCR and subsequently cloned and expressed in bakers yeast, all ligands are non-animal derived. This elegant means of production results in superior products with excellent and consistent quality.
